How do you describe your technology?

CNX is a software only data warehouse platform. Hardware agnostic, it is a purpose-built, column-based, DBMS designed for demanding analytics environments.

How can your product be implemented in my environment?

It can be inserted as an optimization/acceleration layer into existing DBMS environments or stand alone as a high performance, highly extensible data warehouse platform. Our multi-tier MPP architecture and modular implementation makes the product extremely versatile and enables a scale-out model for easy growth.

What kind of DBMS environments can your product optimize ?

Currently CNX optimizes Oracle DB environments. In version 2.0 of the product we will support DB2.

How much can you optimize my environment?

CNX can provide anywhere from 5-80 times query performance improvement over Oracle DB. An exact number is dependent on the complexity and number of queries you process.

Will installing your product be disruptive to my current environment?

No, CNX is transparent to your application layer, so the investment you've made in analytics applications and BI tools is maintained. Also, all your training and investment in your Oracle environment is maintained as CNX is completely compatible.

Do I have to make any changes to my data layer
?

No, no changes to your data models or schemas are required. These are maintained as before.

Do I have to buy hardware from you to run your system?

No, CNX is software only and hardware agnostic. We will help you with recommended configurations to accommodate your requirements, but you may be able to re-purpose existing hardware in your environment or purchase it from your existing supplier if you wish.

Can my servers be physically distributed across my enterprise, or must they be co-located?

Servers should be co-located for a given Calpont CNX system.

What if my environment changes rapidly - say I have to double my users or dramatically increase my database size?
Do I need to overprovision to handle this with your system
?

No. The CNX architecture is multi-tier and modular, which means that you can scale users, performance and database size independently. This means that you can "pay as you grow," only adding to the areas you need when you need it. Not only that, but you can change the "personalities" of modules within the CNX architecture, so if you need more performance during certain parts of the day, you can switch user modules to performance modules, and vice versa.

Is adding additional servers or storage disruptive to your system?

Adding servers or storage is not disruptive to the system and can be accomplished without incurring an outage to re-distribute the data.

Do I have to have one set of storage or can I have multiple storage systems?

You can have multiple storage systems. Because CNX's view to storage is a logical one, there is no direct storage mapping. The view is a "shared everything" one. Future releases of CNX will include "shared nothing" views of storage as well.

The CNX system allows for multiple options for data storage including either a single storage system or multiple storage systems.
